When I started at Chipotle our communications consisted of email, post-it notes, and Carrier Pigeons. Upon discovering that every manager visited the home page of our intranet (“ChipLinks”) every day, I pioneered a new way to communicate with them - the Chiplinks Video of the Week, which eventually became “Hey Chipotle.” Now, like guac and a holier than thou marketing strategy, Hey Chipotle is a Chipotle staple.

The goal was to keep it relevant and engaging, while still communicating crucial information to run the business and build culture.

Every week the video is viewed by thousands of managers, support center staff, and company leaders. We’ve used everything from documentary storytelling, host-style vlogs, dancing avocados, and inspiring messages from our team members to keep it relevant and fresh.

Oh, and in 5 years of posting, we’ve NEVER missed a week. Consistency is key.

HOSPITALITY TRAINING

In my time leading the Digital Learning and Production team at Chipotle, one of my favorite projects was introducing new Hospitality Standards to our team members. I got to partner with leaders across the org and world-renowned Hospitality Leaders to develop the new standards, then develop the plan to teach them in a digital format. We knew we wanted short, micro-learnings that would engage the audience and clearly demonstrate the standards to all employees.
